Drone Port
A drone port is a base for housing drones and enabling automated takeoff and landing. Depending on the operating environment and application, there are various shapes and configurations, which can be broadly categorized into two types: fixed and vehicle-mounted/mobile types.
- ・Fixed: Also called a permanent type, these drone ports are fixed in a specific location as the name implies. Furthermore, depending on the usage environment, they are classified into indoor drone ports and outdoor drone ports. Outdoor drone ports often have a roof (an opening/closing lid) for all-weather operation, requiring high environmental resistance.
- ・Vehicle-mounted/Mobile: This type is mounted on vehicles and can be moved freely between different locations.
In addition to housing and automated takeoff/landing, drone ports also feature functions such as charging, battery replacement, maintenance, route management, and data transfer. By setting automated flight in advance, drones can automatically move to specified locations or routes to perform tasks, and automatically upload inspection status and progress data via wireless communication such as Wi-Fi. This eliminates the need for operators to go to the site every time and allows remote operation and control from a local PC or controller, leading to automation and improved efficiency.
